Chad Petriw Electric Ltd. (“CPE,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you:

  • visit petriwelectric.com (https://www.petriwelectric.com) or use its online features;

  • submit a contact, estimate, or service-request form;

  • request or manage an appointment through our online booking provider;

  • communicate with us by email, telephone, or text message; or

  • receive or respond to a service follow-up or review request.

This policy is intended to reflect the principles of Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Canadian privacy and electronic-communications requirements.

1. Our Accountability

CPE is responsible for personal information under its control, including information processed for us by service providers. Questions, access requests, corrections, withdrawals of consent, or privacy complaints may be directed to the Privacy Contact listed at the end of this policy.

2. Personal Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

Information you provide

  • your name;

  • email address and telephone number;

  • service address or general location;

  • preferred appointment dates or times;

  • information about the property, electrical issue, requested work, or project;

  • photographs, documents, or other materials you choose to provide;

  • your communication preferences and consent records;

  • messages, questions, feedback, and other correspondence; and

  • information you provide when submitting feedback or interacting with a review request.

Please do not send us payment-card information, government identification numbers, medical information, account passwords, or other highly sensitive information through website forms, ordinary email, or text message.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Website, Wix, our website platform and hosting provider, automatically processes technical and usage information through its native website analytics tools. This information may include:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address;

  • browser, device, and operating-system information;

  • session dates and times;

  • pages and blog posts viewed;

  • traffic and referral sources, such as direct visits or search engines;

  • approximate geographic location derived from technical information;

  • session duration, pages viewed per session, and bounce rate;

  • general engagement and website-performance information; and

  • cookies or similar technologies used to operate, secure, maintain, and measure use of the Website.

This native reporting helps us understand how visitors find and use the Website, which pages are useful, and how the Website performs. CPE does not currently use Google Analytics. Optional Wix features that provide enhanced button-click tracking or session recordings are not currently enabled. If CPE enables those features or adds advertising pixels, behavioural analytics, or another analytics provider, we will update this policy and provide any consent choices required by applicable law.

3. How We Collect Information

We may collect personal information:

  • directly from you through forms, booking requests, telephone calls, email, text messages, or other communications;

  • from another person acting with your authorization, such as a homeowner, contractor, family member, or property representative;

  • from our booking, customer-relationship management, communications, website, and review-request service providers; and

  • as otherwise permitted or required by law.

4. Why We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • respond to questions and contact requests;

  • assess a requested job and determine whether a site visit is needed;

  • schedule, confirm, change, or cancel appointments;

  • prepare estimates and communicate about requested or completed work;

  • provide customer service and maintain service records;

  • send operational messages related to appointments, estimates, or services;

  • request private feedback or invite customers to leave an honest review;

  • manage communication preferences and unsubscribe requests;

  • operate, secure, troubleshoot, measure, and improve the Website and related systems;

  • understand Website traffic sources, visitor engagement, page performance, and general usage trends;

  • prevent fraud, misuse, security incidents, or unlawful activity;

  • meet accounting, insurance, regulatory, legal, and recordkeeping obligations; and

  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

We will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without obtaining consent unless the use is otherwise permitted or required by law.

5. Consent and Your Choices

We seek meaningful consent appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the purpose for which it is collected. Consent may be express or implied, depending on the circumstances and applicable law.

You may withdraw or vary consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawal may limit our ability to respond to a request, manage a booking, or provide certain services. It does not affect processing already lawfully completed.

6. Email, SMS, and Review Requests

We may use email or text messaging to communicate about a request, appointment, estimate, service, feedback, or review invitation.

Where a message is a commercial electronic message, we will seek consent where required, identify CPE, provide contact information, and include a working unsubscribe method in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You may unsubscribe from promotional or review-request messages by using the unsubscribe method provided, replying STOP to an applicable text message, or contacting us.

Unsubscribing from promotional or review-request communications will not necessarily prevent service-related messages that are reasonably required to respond to your request, manage an appointment, complete requested work, address safety concerns, or meet legal obligations.

Review requests are invitations to provide honest feedback. You are not required to leave a review, and your decision or rating will not affect the service you receive.

7. When We Disclose Personal Information

We do not sell or rent personal information.

We may disclose personal information:

  • to employees and contractors who need it to respond to requests or perform their duties;

  • to service providers that support website hosting, online forms, appointment booking, customer relationship management, email, SMS, data storage, security, and review-request functions;

  • to professional advisers, insurers, financial institutions, regulators, law-enforcement bodies, courts, or government authorities when reasonably necessary or required by law;

  • in connection with a proposed or completed sale, financing, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate safeguards; or

  • with your direction or consent.

Service providers may use personal information only as permitted by their agreements with us and applicable law, although third-party websites and services that you choose to use may also apply their own privacy policies.

8. Processing Outside Manitoba or Canada

Some service providers may store or process personal information outside Manitoba or Canada, including in the United States. When information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies, or government authorities there.

CPE remains accountable for personal information under its control and uses contractual, organizational, or other reasonable measures appropriate to the circumstances when engaging service providers.

9. Retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide services, maintain business and consent records, meet tax, insurance, regulatory, and legal requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Retention periods vary according to the type of information and the reason it was collected. When information is no longer required, we will securely delete, destroy, or anonymize it, subject to technical limitations and lawful retention requirements.

10. Safeguards

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards that are reasonable in light of the sensitivity, amount, format, and storage of the personal information. These measures may include access controls, account security, service-provider controls, staff practices, and secure deletion methods.

No website, email, text message, or electronic system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will respond to suspected privacy or security incidents in accordance with applicable law.

11. Access, Correction, and Privacy Requests

Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:

  • confirm whether we hold personal information about you;

  • provide access to that information and information about its use or disclosure;

  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;

  • withdraw or vary consent;

  • stop sending optional email or SMS messages; or

  • explain our privacy practices or address a concern.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. In limited circumstances, applicable law may permit or require us to refuse access, withhold certain information, or retain information despite a deletion or withdrawal request. We will explain any lawful limitation where appropriate.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada through priv.gc.ca (https://www.priv.gc.ca).

12. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Website and Wix may use cookies or similar technologies for website operation, security, accessibility, user preferences, forms, booking features, and native website analytics. These technologies may help recognize a browser or device, maintain Website functions, measure sessions and engagement, identify traffic sources, and produce aggregated reports about Website performance.

Browser settings may allow you to block or delete cookies, but doing so may prevent parts of the Website from working properly. Where required, the Website will request consent before placing or using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.

Enhanced Wix button-click tracking and session-recording features are not currently enabled. CPE also does not currently use Google Analytics. If CPE later enables enhanced analytics, session recordings, advertising pixels, or behavioural tracking, we will update our disclosures and provide any consent choices required by applicable law.

13. Third-Party Websites and Platforms

The Website may link to third-party services, including online booking, maps, social media, or review platforms. When you leave our Website or submit information directly to another platform, that provider’s privacy policy and terms may also apply. We encourage you to review them.

14. Children’s Privacy

The Website and CPE’s electrical services are intended for adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the Website. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorization, please contact us.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, service providers, or legal obligations. The current version will be posted on the Website with a revised effective date. Material changes may also be communicated by another appropriate method.
